Songstress

The more I grow, the more I understand that singing is not just something I can do.  It is a gift I can offer.  It can be an entry to dialogue in my research.  And it soothes my soul, particularly when I sing the blues.

Currently I am working on composing some new material with my partner in love and life, Mike Anderson. Our most recent project is the album “Comfort Food” which we launched in September 2020 after recording it during pandemic lockdown. You can purchase it on our band website therhythmandtheflavor.com

But here are a few tastes of some older material.

After conducting fieldwork in Itacaré, Bahia, Brazil, one of my study participants asked me for help turning a song she was writing into a full song.  Mike and I helped her finish the composition and we recorded it with our friend Chema on guitar. Here is a link to see the music video, complete with images from my site of field work.

And here is a link to my page on ReverbNation where I have posted a few songs I’ve recorded over the years.  They’re some of my favorites.
